Interesting July 4th Statistics

Summer is officially here and with it comes the Fourth of July. Below are some interesting and also some disturbing Fourth of July Statistics:

Did you know?

  • 700 million pounds of chicken are purchased
  • 150 million hot dogs are consumed
  • 41 million people spend the holiday at someone else’s home
  • 252 million pounds of fireworks are sold
  • 9,200 people are injured by fireworks
  • 18% of all boating fatalities occur

Barbeques, pool parties and fireworks are some of the ways we celebrate our nation’s independence.  However, when you invite people onto your property, you’re exposing yourself to risk. I’ve heard about too many boating accidents, diving incidents, fireworks disasters and the like. All tragic and unexpected. And all finding the homeowner without adequate homeowners’ insurance coverage.

Homeowner-to-homeowner and parent-to-parent, I encourage you to evaluate yours this Fourth of July.

Have a safe and happy holiday weekend!
